Round Lake Vineyards and Winery was honored with Best Midwest Regional Wine for The Heron at the annual Taste of Lakeville event Thursday, May 15, at the Lakeville Area Arts Center in Lakeville, a suburb of the Twin Cities. The Round Lake Vineyards and Winery Frontenac Gris took second in Best Value Domestic Whites by a narrow margain against a nationally known producer.
The Heron is a red blend of Marquette, Petite Pearl and Petite Sirah grapes. Round Lake Vineyards and Winery owner Scott Ellenbecker said he’s proud of the award and the wine. “The Heron is bold in tannin and structure yet elegant and lush in flavors. We named it for the Great Blue Heron because we have several nesting pairs who make their summer home at the Round Lake Vineyards estate so it’s a special label for us.”
This is the first time Round Lake Vineyards and Winery has participated in Taste of Lakeville. Lakeville Liquors will have the award-winning wines on sale for the next two weeks.
Taste of Lakeville is an annual celebration put on by the Lakeville Rotary as a fundraiser for its many charities. It features restaurants, caterers, and fine beverage purveyors who offer attendees the opportunity to sample, taste, sip and devour rich culinary treats available in Lakeville.
